Bakemonogatari Episode 10 Raw Reports
As everyone knows, Bakemonogatari episode 10 that was broadcasted on TOKYO MX on Friday was an unfinished work. However, SHAFT did “fix” the episode when it was broadcasted on other stations two days later. This entry is used to keep track of corrections SHAFT has done to the episode in each broadcast.
- Sep 11th – TOKYO MX—version 1.0
Blatantly unfinished work. - Sep 13th – TV Saitama, tvk—version 1.1
“It’s acceptable, but don’t expect anything.” said Anonymous.
Some part of the battle scenes are added, though still pretty much unfinished. Nadeko’s suffering scenes are still remain undone (and probably never will in TV broadcast due to content restriction.) - Sep 15th – TV Aichi, Chiba TV—version 1.1
“No corrections” said Anonymous.
Same as TV Saitama and tvk’s. Pretty sure TVQ will also broadcast version 1.1. It’s likely to be MBS or BS-Japan if they’re going to fix it again because composition takes time, redoing them for every station is going to kill episode’s 11 schedule. - Sep 16th – TVQ Kyūshū—version 1.1
As expected. - Sep 19th – MBS—version 1.1
Probability of episode 10 getting fixed in BS-Japan broadcast is unlikely at this point. - Sep 20th – BS-Japan—version 1.1 plus censorship
And when you think it couldn’t get worse! At least two scenes in this broadcast version are censored with a “red” cut and there’s no corrections beyond the TV Saitama’s version, so I guess we have no choice but to hope it’ll be fixed in Blu-ray release. See you again in December! Yay Shaft! - Dec 23rd – Blu-ray, DVD—waiting for release
All “confirmations” are taken from Bakemonogatari’s 2ch thread.
Hope I don’t have to make this for episode 11 and 12.
Joshiraku: Apparently They Do Have Names
If you can count that as a name.

Haroukitei Kigurumi (波浪浮亭木胡桃) or rather, Hello Kitty Kigurumi.

Bouhatei Tetora (防波亭手寅) or rather, Tetrapod Breakwater.
Yup, Kumeta indeed.
(Looks like all names will have 亭 (tei) kanji in the middle somehow.)
Joshiraku: Nonsense Story of Rakugo Girls
Well, I actually expected Joshiraku to be Rakugo manga, and I’m not wrong, only half-wrong. The story is, no doubt, about Rakugo girls as the title suggested, but instead of being story about them telling Rakugo, the story begins after they finished telling Rakugo.
The first two chapter introduced five girls to the series. “Oh, yet another group-of-girls-doing-something manga?” you may think. Not quite. Even when I said “introduce”, it’s not an actual introduction per-se. No names were mentioned, the only thing being shown is their unique personalities. And these five girls basically do… nothing.

Structure for each chapter is simple: one girl come back from the Rakugo stage to the dressing room, and begin to question the other girls about something totally random, such as asking if they like cat or dog more. The conversation continues until they reached a conclusion that is far unrelated to the original question.
This is where the whole “Kumeta being original author” comes into effect, he reminds the reader that this manga was done by him by throwing his signature style as a conclusion to each chapter. The conversation about sea and moutain that ends up with everyone shouting “Kaese!” (“Give us back!”) in the dressing room pointing toward several countries directions. That kind of international affair conclusion.
The characters in the series are different from his usual stuff, in that they’re actually cute and not pseudo-cute as in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Toradora’s Yasu being an artist for this series plays a big part in it; his style and a bit of Kumeta’s Shōwa-modern touch seems to be a good match together, making the overall atmosphere of the series quite refreshing.
Although I admit, even though I enjoyed the first two chapters, I don’t think I would recommend it to be anyone due to its conversation-centric nature with basically nothing happens, and to be honest, Joshiraku alone does not worth paying 380 yen 500 yen for Bessatsu Shonen Magazine every month. Maybe waiting for Tankoubon seems to be a better idea.
You may be able to enjoy it if you think a concept like “group of girls sitting around talking nonsense for 6 pages with Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei-taste conclusion” sounds fun, which I do.
Bakemonogatari: Shinbo’s interview bit from 2ch

Said Shinbo,
“If I’m to put Bakemonogatari into one word, that’d be ‘pressure’. To be honest, even if this series weren’t made by us, it would still be popular. We can’t really feel proud even when it is, because it’s hard for us to brings out our style in the series.”
(omitted)
“Even though Maria Holic and Natsu no Arashi are not popular but it has its merit in doing, for us it’s a good work. By that meaning, we do feel Bakemonogatari is not really our achievement.”
It’s good to be honest.

SZS’s author Kumeta Kōji’s new manga Joshiraku
The first image of Joshiraku, a manga by Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei’s author and Toradora!’s illustrator, was published today in Afternoon. Although there’s no new information on the story or anything else, Yasu’s illustration looks pretty damn good (the right image).

I suspect Joshiraku is an abbreviation of “Joshi Rakugo” (Girl’s Rakugo) because somehow that fits the illustration: seiza sitting, paper fan and such. Kumeta also commented in Bakemonogatari Anime Guidebook that he want to write a light novel, since the main point of “rakugo” is telling stories, maybe this is how he’ll write a “light novel” within manga?
We won’t know anything about the series until September 9, when the first issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine went on sale. I’ll definitely check this out.
(Is the main character gonna be like Kudō Jun, but as a girl? That sounds interesting.)
