Studio Pastoral’s Internal Conflict?

From >>147 staffs list, does that mean Shūji Miyazaki already leaving Pastoral for AI?

Furukawa-san is also leaving for AIC, I think Pastoral is in deep trouble now.

Seriously?
In that case, the one in trouble is not Pastoral but Shaft. lol.
AIC is also in trouble as people are leaving, but Furukawa-san joining is a relief.

Since Shimizu-san already leave,
the animation directors that still left in Studio Pastoral are
Jitsuhara-san, Oomori-san, Ushijima-san and Maeda-san, is this it?

153 : Anonymous Anonymous : 2009/10/11 (Sun) 07:16:38

Ushijima-san said in his dairy that he already quit.
He’s now credited as Aoba in Shaft’s work, but as Ushijima in other’s.
Judging from the outside, isn’t this some serious internal conflict…?

Just when Shaft is having a lot of work in their hands.
Is Yamamura still there?

155 : Anonymous Anonymous : 2009/10/11 (Sun) 12:12:09

…and so I thought who was Aoba Taro.

158 : Anonymous Anonymous : 2009/10/11 (Sun) 20:47:23

Ushijima-san did Mecha Mote with Miyazaki-san.

159 : Anonymous Anonymous : 2009/10/11 (Sun) 21:23:07

Wait, is being at AI more comfortable than Pastoral? LOL?

160 : Anonymous Anonymous : 2009/10/12 (Mon) 01:41:48

I thought Pastoral’s participation is too few in SZS3, so this is what happened.

Few backgrounds:

  • Studio Pastoral is an outsourced studio that did about 40% of Shaft’s anime episodes until now. Some of Pastoral’s staffs also participate in Shaft’s work as main staff, e.g. Yamamura Hiroki as Chief Animation Director for Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Maria Holic.
  • AI is also an outsourced company, known for not being a really comfortable workplace. (Or is it other company, I can’t remember well.) Not to be confused with AIC mentioned in the quote.
  • The animation directors mentioned are Ushijima [Nozomi], Aoba [Taro], Shimizu [Keita], Jitsuhara [Noboru], Oomori [Hidetoshi], Maeda [Tatsuyuki] and Yamamura [Hiroki].
  • Studio Pastoral’s participation as a subcontractor in Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is total of 3 parts or 1-episode worth. They did not participate in Bakemonogatari except as a Keyframe Assistant in episode 5 (alongside with Anime R).

If the above is true, then Shaft is really in a big trouble now. They have Dance in the Vampire Bund and Hidamari Sketch Hoshimitsu in January, but can’t call for help from Studio Pastoral. They neither can call for help from SILVER LINK, as they will be busy doing BakaTest.

Personally I thought it was strange to see Bakemonogatari only has 3 outsourced episodes and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei rarely has Studio Pastoral’s participation despite Yamamura Hiroki being Chief Animation Director. I initially thought they were busy doing Negima! Another World or Natsu no Arashi, but from the look of it, that doesn’t seems to be the case.

Hidamari Sketch: Hoshimitsu in January

Hidamari Sketch Hoshimitsu Announcement

The red text reads: the anime series third season will start in January next year. So it’s pretty much confirmed the series will replace Kempfer in January on the same timeslot. The biggest problem is that two of Hidamari Sketch primary staffs are still doing another series: Tatsuya Oishi on Bakemonogatari and Ito Yoshiaki on Natsu no Arashi.

Chance of this series being broadcast in the same season as Dance in the Vampire Bund is also high (although Vampire Bund seems to be Studio Pastoral’s production than Shaft’s.)

Informations from the event and Geneon’s Fall 2009 Anime Guidebook

  • We’re squeezing Kiyama’s tests part so the story will go faster. (Producer Nakayama)
  • The theme this time is friendship and everyday life between girls, we don’t want to add any love feeling between them. (Director Nagai, Producer Nakayama)
  • We’re going to lift Uihara’s skirt and change her panties every episode, but we won’t show it. (Director Nagai, Producer Nakayama)

Leftovers from the event

  • We’ve always dubbed without any pictures on screen.
  • There’s a lot of ad-libs by Kuroko and Uiharu. Please look forward to Kuroko’s sexual harassment scene in episode 2.
  • Index will have her appearance. (Currently adjusting when to make the appearance)
  • Other Index’s characters will also have appearance. (Komoe-sensei is confirmed from the another source)

Kind of explains why there’s a total of ten animation directors right on the first episode.

(Bad thing? Relatively yes.)

Bakemonogatari Vol.1 Getting Out of Stock Everywhere

with 3 comments

According to several reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), the first volume of Bakemonogatari which is scheduled to be released today, was out of stock everywhere since yesterday in Japan. Certain store explains that it’s due to a sudden increase in preorders after the order settlement, which took up most of the shelf stock.

Many store in Akihabara also predicts that it would not be possible to buy both Blu-ray and DVD version of the show by the next two days; at least 600 preorders in Niconico Ichiba out of 1,400 orders could not be shipped on the first day.

Certain Anonymous posted on 2ch that Aniplex only ships less than 25,000 copies of the Blu-ray and DVD combined. If this is true, expect some disappointing sales in the first week.

(I guess they just miscalculate the shipping again, just like Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari which only sold 30,000 copies on the first week, but now likely to get pass the 70,000 mark by the next week.)

Edited: Whoops, total of 44,500 copies sold and still a stock shortage? What the hell?

Certain animator’s viewpoint on Shaft

Which company do you want to join the most? Also the one you like, and the one you hate?

42 : 2009/09/26 (Sat) 20:01:26 0

Of course that’d be my current company. The studio I hate is Sha… nevermind. The studio I like is GAINAX but because of their personnel, not their work.

131 : 2009/09/26 (Sat) 21:57:52 0

Why do you hate Sha…?

133 : 2009/09/26 (Sat) 22:01:23 0

Back in some times with certain producer, I have to work for the episode that’s going to broadcast next week. When I complain anything, they only say “it’s an order from the superior.” What the hell is that.

147 : 2009/09/26 (Sat) 23:59:05 0

Not including those deadline issues, how’s your impression of Sha…?

149 : 2009/09/27 (Sun) 00:04:34 0

Looks like they’re okay with selling by characters. I don’t like that idea…

164 : 2009/09/27 (Sun) 00:25:36 0

How is their schedule so bad they have to rely on cost-cutting time-cutting techniques?

170 : 2009/09/27 (Sun) 00:29:17 0

Maybe it’s because their company policy that will do something to the last minute. They need to stop already.

Looks like Shaft is the new GONZO.

Edit: It’s worth to note that many animators works by job not by long-term contract. This certain animator is an outsourced animator and not their employee.
